Almost half a million pound was funded to the sports facilities in the Ellesmere Port since opening. The £438,007 3G (3rd Generation) artificial grass pitch was installed at Ellesmere Port Sports Village on the Stanney Lane.
The installation of the pitch was made possible due to the funding of the Borough Council and the £250,640 funding grant from The FA Facilities and the Premier League which are both providing grants towards the development of the refurbished or new grass roots for the football facilities.
The granted funding has enabled the Borough to upgrade their facilities at £15m sports village that was opened earlier this year by refurbishing the existing 18 year old sand-filled pitch to a new 100 meters by 62 meters states of the art pitch surface with new floodlighting and fencing.
The new versatile pitch can accommodate 11 vs. 11 and 9 vs. 9 plays lengthways with 7 vs. 7 widthways and 5 vs. 5 training in the quarters. The place will be utilized by the grass roots clubs which include the Ellesmere Port JFC. This is as well as the schools, West Cheshire College, which always do a training session on the old pitch.
