A 3G artificial grass pitch will be installed as the part of the development project of Great Sankey Neighborhood Hub. This is after a boost in funding that is received from the FA Facilities Fund and the Premier League.
LiveWire received £302,184 as an award for the new pitch which will fund their £16m project. This will fund the planned transformations to the current Great Sankey Leisure Centre, Barrow Hall Lane.
This new dementia-friendly facility’s set to provide as a one-stop-shop for health, wellbeing, leisure and culture. Residents will benefit from a new fitness suite, upgraded tennis courts, swimming pools, GP surgeries and a café. There will also be a smart library and new facilities that include a spa. The funding will transform the current sand-based pitch into a new 106 meters by 70 meters floodlit 3rd Generation grass pitch. This will provide better facilities for the regional and local clubs as it opens in the autumn of 2016.
It is hoped that LiveWire, working in partnership with the Liverpool County FA and 3 other local football clubs will have a real impact. The development is planned to help increase football participation in the area.
The Whittle Hall FC, Matthiola FC and Crosfields FC will use the new developed artificial grass pitch. This will be for both training and match days to better enhance their skills and methods in playing football game.
The LiveWire neighborhood wellbeing director, Keith Maddock said that the he’s excited about the benefits this project will bring. Through the installation and use of the state of the art 3G pitch grass LiveWire will be able to present better facilities and more opportunities. Furthermore, it will help to develop youth football skills.
The 3rd Generation Great Sankey grass pitch is one of the 17 ongoing projects in the North West. They benefit from over £1.7m worth of project funding from the FA Facilities Fund and the Premier League. This is in order to support the different projects on grassroots facilities.
