Burnley’s Official Opening for Multi-Million Pound Sports Centre
The president of the Football Foundation, Lord Pendry, officially opened new 2.5 million pound sport center Prairie Sports Village in Burnley. The opening included Lord Pendry’s unveiling of a plaque, with presentations and speeches by Burnley Council and Burnley Leisure representatives. More than a hundred guests, who include leisure and council trust staff, local councillors, construction industry representatives, and sport governing bodies, attended the opening, together with Michael Hunt, the local golf star and most capped player of Lancashire.
The projects made possible, thanks to the Premier League and the FA Facilities Fund grant of 350,000.It has been provided by the largest sports charity in the country, the Football Foundation. The Inspired Facilities Fund of Sport England also contributed another 350,000 pounds. As managed by Burnley Leisure, the innovative complex houses a floodlit 3G artificial football pitch. This is along with a new 10-room changing pavilion.
The website is boasting a sixteen-bay golf driving range, golf shop, bistro, as well as a multi-purpose studio. An on-site golf academy has been equipped with the newest technology. This enabled the players to track their results, enhance their performance, and playing golf courses all over the world. James Major, the PGA golf expert, operates a coaching programme from the website. The council worked in partnership with Lancashire County FA. Since year 2000, the investment of Football Foundation Funding Partners has provided 434 grants worth 19 million pounds into the pitches. That’s projects worth 44 and half million pounds over the entire Lancashire. Since the opening proved a tremendous hit, it has attracted beyond 35,000 golfers and visitors coming not just from Burnley.
