Glasgow Warriors Play New Season on Artificial Grass
Glasgow Warriors plays their whole home games on the artificial grass from 2016/2017 season. The Stadium grass in Scotsoun will change into a synthetic surface after Glasgow had 3 matches away from the turf’s home last season. The city councilors of Glasgow already approved the £750,000 investment works. With the move follows on from Cardiff Blues, Newcastle Falcons, Saracens changing to artificial grass in current seasons.
The current pitch at Scotsoun has been poorly affected with deprived weather in current years. The adjustment hopes to close the postponement of fixtures and forced movement as well as enhance the athletics facilities at the ground. Nathan Bombrys which is the managing director of Glasgow Warriors admitted the change was a requirement. This is after another season that has seen ground trouble.
According to Bombrys, after last season trials, it is great that they were close to installing the pitch that will provide them a consistent surface in order to play the rugby that they like. In addition to this, the expansion will help the athletic clubs in a form of offering excellent facilities and access. They completely believe that the newest artificial pitch could open great opportunities and additional rugby events and matches to Scotstoun.
Other Improvements
As part of planned investment, the current 400m outdoor running track along with the drainage work of the stadium. The projected pitch will meet the World Rugby rules and procedures. Whilst at the same time provide an area for events and trainings. The present window for the athletics club is June up to August. However the latest pitch will cover from April to September. Work is due to start this month with achievement expected before the start of the 2016/2017 season.
