Sunderland striker Duncan Watmore opens school’s new 3G pitch
Football is a popular sport in the UK and generally played between two teams of eleven. Played by two hundred and fifty million in over two hundred countries, it’s one of the most popular sports in the world. Many aspiring football players from around the world choose to be in the field to follow their dream. Most also hope to have the opportunity to play with the most popular players in their country.
Sunderland has a popular football team and has collected plenty of awards over the years. Duncan Watmore is one of Sunderland’s strikers and top players. He was recently a special guests at the opening of a County Durham school’s new artificial football pitch.
A New 3G pitch
Duncan Watmore was recently given the chance to share his personal footballing experience by opening a school pitch. He also shared some top tips based on his career in football. Watmore spoke about the importance of a 3G pitch in helping the performance of players.
The installation of the new pitch would not have been possible without generous donations. The school’s new artificial grass cost approximately £615,000. It was made possible by a grant provided by the FA Facilities Fund and the Premier League. In total this was worth of £200,000.
Furthermore, an additional sum of £150,000 amount from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund, which makes the school very thankful for having such funds that become the way to having the 3G artificial grass pitch in their school.
As part of the football association, Duncan Watmore who recently signed a 4 year contract at Sunderland, cut the ribbon for the pitch. He was very thankful to be a part of the opening of the opening ceremony at the school. Added to that, he mentioned that having access to quality facilities like 3G pitch would make a great difference for players. It’s key in continuously improving themselves to become great players someday.
In addition, the new artificial pitch with floodlights is a great place not just for their students, but also for local people. This is very essential for bringing communities together and a great source of inspiration for those aspiring footballers.
