Manager believes three bosses lead to Brentwood Town Relegation
Martyn Stokes believes Brentwood Town’s relegation was due to having three managers in one season. It is also said that the players are behind the current boss named Mike Flanagan. The Blue’s relegation confirmed this after 2-2 draw at Kingstonian in the previous week and finishing the season with a 3-0 defeat at Farnborough.
This winning victory keeps the home side up. Flanagan, who took over at the Arena in the start of the year, is one of the three managers used by the Blues on their campaign in the Ryman Premiership.
Getting back on track
Dean Holdsworth, who replaced Flanagan’s son, lead the Blues to the promotion. This came as he concentrated on his Bolton Wanderers’ take over and replacement. George Borg had lasted 6 matches before stepping out of the team because of an impending 3 week work trip to the United States.
Ryman North lifted the trophy a year ago and said “This had an effect. We had a settled team management and a group of players that made the game even easier. However, when the new manager arrived, he wanted to bring up his own players. He had worked with them before which made it a bit difficult. Perhaps, it would have been difficult anyway if we just have one manager as we step up to the new league.”
Making progress for next season
Flanagan told the Gazette a week ago that he wanted to have the chance to bring back Brentwood back into the Ryman Premier League . He believes that the players that stay in the team are those that are behind him.
The Brentwood Borough Council had already lodged the planning permission but it is not clear how much it will cost. There are many Blues’ level clubs like Harlow Town and Cheshunt who had already installed the latest 3G pitch. They had consequently seen revenue increase with the community teams.
