Is it the End for the Great British Lawn and AstroTurf’s Time to Shine?

It might be the end for the great British lawn. New research revealed that Britons are now going for low maintenance outdoor areas for their gardens instead of choosing the traditional lawn.
Garden furniture retailer Alfresia surveyed 1000 people and discovered that more than 1 in 4 homes no longer have a genuine grass lawn. 67% of adults stated that they don’t have natural grass as they don’t have enough time to maintain it.

The survey also revealed that 1 in 10 homes has AstroTurf or some type of artificial turf fitted instead. 71% of homeowners think that having a lawn is a burden and would rather have no lawn at all.

Maintenance is taking up too much time

Great British LawnAccording to Craig Corbett, spokesman of Alfresia, lawn maintenance can take lots of work. There is watering, fertilising and mowing. These tasks take up time that many Brits don’t have. They are therefore always looking for ways to maintain their outdoor space with minimum cost and effort.

Installing decking or patio in the garden often means taking up some or the entire lawn space. These garden fixtures are becoming more common so it’s not surprising that lawns have decreased almost 50% in the past 10 years.

Along with advances in technology, improvements in artificial lawns have taken place as well. Artificial lawns now look like the real one and a number of British gardeners and homeowners are installing AstroTurf in their garden.

AstroTurf – The New Solution for Gardeners and Homeowners

Maintaining a lawn takes up a lot of time. Scarifying, edging, cutting and weed-killing are time-consuming. It takes a lot to look after something that looks untidy when not maintained, gets ruined if walked on and stains clothes. However, most people love grass and some are even passionately fond of it.

All the time used for trimming overgrown grass can be spent instead on other more meaningful things like family time. For those who still want a lawn but don’t want the maintenance associated with a real one, AstroTurf provides a great solution.

The artificial grass offers several benefits. Aside from being durable, it can be laid directly onto concrete. Unlike real grass, AstroTurf offers no wear and tear. It is good for roof terraces, balconies and front gardens. It looks like the real thing. Since AstroTurf doesn’t have the usual problems associated with real grass such as stains and daily wear and tear, it is very easy to maintain.

You don’t need to worry about scarifying, edging, cutting or killing weeds. The artificial grass will keep its beauty throughout the year. It can also last for a long time. Installation may be expensive, but the benefits offered by the artificial grass are enough to convince gardeners and homeowners to switch to AstroTurf. Visit website.
