Is artificial grass fire retardant? It is always important to check whether your grass is fire retardant with the manufacturer or supplier. Although most synthetic turf now on the market should have a fire retardent coating, this does not necessarily mean that all types do.
The grass we supply at Lawnworld has been treated and is therefore fire retardant. However, all artificial grass is plastic and therefore susceptable to melting if in close contact with hot items. We always advise that BBQs are kept a safe distance from artificial grass as sparks and hot coals can easily fall and damage the grass. Although your grass should not set on fire, hot coals and ash can melt the blades, leaving unsightly burnt patches. They are hard to fix, so it really is important that you take the necessary measures to prevent this from happening.

If your grass does get damaged through heat then it is reparable. Replacement grass can be cut to size and installed however, the new patch will look slightly different. This will become less apparent over time but it is albest to avoid having to do this in the first place
