LiveWire to Review Sports Playing Pitches to Determine if Existing Provision is Enough to Support Clubs
Warrington Borough Council has commissioned LiveWire to review sports playing pitches. This will be to determine whether the existing provision is enough to support clubs accessing the facilities. The review will include an assessment of the present number of pitches and their quality as well as the demand from clubs using them. This will allow the council and LiveWire to make sure that there is a good supply of high-quality facilities that can meet the current demand.
Improved sports facilities
A short online survey will collect feedback on the existing facilities. The survey is open to all cricket, rugby and football as well as hockey clubs in Warrington. Plans to improve the quality of facilities used by clubs will then go ahead. This will include factors such as changing rooms, car parking and grass pitches.
Once this is complete, national governing groups will notified using a set strategy. This will include the Rugby Football League and Football Association. A set procedure will fund Applications and planning applications.
Making a difference for the community
Culture, leisure and community executive board member Cllr Tony Higgins stated that Warrington has always been an athletic town. He went on to say that with flourishing clubs, he hope’s this will continue. The councilor is encouraging clubs to complete this survey to help make a difference to the provision of facilities in the town.
The Premier League and FA Facilities Fund awarded LiveWire with a grant. They were granted over £300,000 earlier this year to install a modern 3G artificial grass pitch. This was part of the Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub expansion.
Keith Maddock, the neighbourhood wellbeing director of LiveWire, commented on the report. He said that they understand how important having the right facilities is for sports clubs. The review will allow them to determine if the existing sports playing pitches provision in the town is enough to support the clubs that are using the facilities on a regular basis. All clubs that fill in the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win £500 for club development.
